The Hall of the Year competition helps students to understand, in a playful and entertaining way, how loads act on a structure in practice and what its weaknesses may be. The contestants´ task is to design and build - in 2 to 3-member teams - a model of a structure following instructions and subsequently subject it to loading up to the point of collapse at the finals held at the Faculty. The model with the highest ratio between the load capacity and own weight that can carry a particular continuous load will win. The aim of the competition is to teach students to think holistically, compare different options, search for the optimum solution.
